This Saturday I’ll have the pleasure of taking part in MapJam2013, a daylong festival celebrating Austin music, brought to you by the Austin Music Map, KUTX, and the City of Austin Music Division.
Throughout the day at various venues you can catch a variety of local musical acts ranging from bluegrass to hip hop to conjunto to rockabilly to afro-latin (me!), all within a one-mile radius. For all you pedal pushers, a bike map is available with suggested routes to catch all the festivities below.
I highly suggest you check the Austin Music Map project. In short, it’s an online interactive music map of Austin that maps live music (ranging from music venues to impromptu street performances). Anyone is able to participate and add to the interactive map and the playlist of the city. It’s an amazing concept, that’s beautifully put together. FB link for Austin MapJam 2013.
I’ll be playing a heavy dose of cumbia/afro-latin goodness at Tillery Park (801 Tillery St.) from 9pm-10pm. I’m cookin’ up somethin’ special, maybe a surprise guest, two…. Don’t ZZZZZ!
